A 75-unit mixed-use residential and seniors’ centre project with the Sooke Region Communities Health Network Long-term land lease agreement with District of Sooke Project consists of affordable seniors’ housing; a permanent seniors’ drop-in centre that will also offer intergenerational programming and shelter in the case of emergencies, and community commercial space
PROJECT SUCCESS
• Predevelopment funding secured through CMHC, District of Sooke, Vancity, and Green Municipal Fund; over half a million dollars secured
• Strong partnerships and relationships, including with the municipality who is the landowner
• Predevelopment funding for seniors housing and seniors centre from municipality and CMHC
• Site due diligence completed
• Partnership between SRCHN and Sooke Seniors Drop In Centre Society to bring a much-needed seniors’ centre and loan cupboard to the community
