PROJECT OVERVIEW
The proposed Xexe Pahlatsis Lelum (Sacred Cradle House), is a multi-unit Culturally Supportive Transitional House for First Nations, Inuit, and Métis (FNIM) mothers and their babies, with lived experience of homelessness, vulnerability, and/or substance use. Sacred Cradle House will provide up to 12 units of housing for pregnant and newly parenting FNIM mothers experiencing vulnerability or violence, with culturally appropriate housing and an adjoining childcare facility. Family Members (residents) will reside in the program during the early years of parenting, with a focus on developing life skills, child rearing, healing and health, and learning teachings from Elders that prepare families for long-term housing stability.
