Vancouver Island Mental Health Society (VIMHS)

PROJECT LOCATION
Nanaimo, BC
PROJECT OVERVIEW
Vancouver Island Mental Health Society has been operating housing on the island for over 40 years. Their first program began in the 1970s when a group of concerned citizens recognized the need for safe transitional housing for psychiatric patients discharged from the hospital. As of today, they operate 7 housing projects that range from independent living to supportive living. Wiser projects are working with the Society to secure BC Housing CHF for their most recently proposed project that is in collaboration with the Canadian Mental Health Association. The project will have 40-units as well as commercial space on the first floor. Wiser is eager to support projects that provide supportive and therapeutic environments for the residents, which makes VIMHS an ideal collaborator.
