PROJECT OVERVIEW
A 28- unit new infill mixed-use project including affordable housing units for the John Howard Society of Victoria. Designed for JHS clients who are leaving correctional facilities and looking to reintegrate into the community. Building will also house a social enterprise café, education and training space, JHS’s administrative staff, and common gathering areas.
PROJECT SUCCESS
• Strong relationships built with neighbours and stakeholders
• Successful land transfer agreement negotiated supporting Society to purchase land outright
• Over 5M in grant funding accessed from provincial, federal, local, and non-profit levels
• Extremely constrained site (1-meter setbacks, from heritage buildings, for example) and construction management plan to address challenges
