PROJECT OVERVIEW
- A three phased Master Plan to renovate and enhance the heritage Christ Church Cathedral, design and build a new Christ Church Cathedral School, build community partnerships and develop the Precinct’s capacity, growth and evolution into the middle of the 21st Century
- Development and approval processes are underway for up to 30-storeys (3.5 FSR) of primarily residential land use
PROJECT SUCCESS
- Integrating a key urban site with colonial histories through a Master Plan with the long- term objectives and goals of the City of Victoria and a Reconciliatory lens
- Extensive Cathedral and stakeholder sessions, developing a vision for the Plan, establishing a baseline functional program, understanding the municipal planning context, understanding the challenges to growth and innovation on site, buildings analysis and early concept development, introducing community development partnerships, preliminary costing and funding and financing plans
- Community support and buy-in throughout duration of project. The project has received written and verbal backing from community members through municipal processes and in-person communication
- Multi-unit mixed-use redevelopment, stakeholder engagement, historical integration, reconciliatory lens
- Variety of public and private funding secured including City of Victoria Cultural Grant, Civic Heritage Trust, and the Vancity Community Foundation
